Job summary

Texas Department of Transportation seeks an Equipment Operator I or II to perform heavy equipment operations, roadway maintenance, and related duties in Greenville. The role requires safety-conscious operation, adherence to procedures, and the ability to work on a team in a fast-paced environment.

The position offers full-time hours with a daytime schedule, on-site work in Greenville, and opportunities for on-the-job training and advancement within TxDOT.

Qualifications

• Requires experience operating heavy equipment and maintaining vehicle safety.
• Proficient in following verbal and written instructions.
• Ability to perform preventive maintenance and basic repairs as needed.
• Must pass drug test and pre-employment physical.
• Valid Texas Commercial Driver's License required.

Responsibilities

• Operate state vehicles to support maintenance of bridges and roads.
• Prepare reports and maintain time-keeping and equipment records.
• Operate heavy equipment such as haul trucks, graders, excavators, bulldozers, cranes, and paving machines.
• Assist in traffic control and public safety during operations.
• Perform routine PMI inspections and minor repairs.
