Job summary

City of Greenville, NC is seeking a reliable equipment operator to safely operate light to medium‑duty maintenance machines across city work sites. You will transport equipment and supplies, and may oversee crew members to ensure work is completed safely and efficiently.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, at least one year of equipment operation, and a valid driver's license. A CDL within six months of hire is required; prior supervisory experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• One year of experience operating light to medium-duty equipment.
• Six months supervisory or crew leader experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate a variety of light to medium-duty maintenance equipment at city work sites.
• Assist with operation of Jetter/Vacuum Trucks and CCTV inspection equipment as needed.
• Assist crews with maintenance, construction, and infrastructure tasks.
• Perform routine equipment maintenance and pre-trip inspections; report deficiencies and repair worn parts.
• Provide direction and oversight of assigned crew members to ensure safety and efficiency.
• Install and maintain work-zone barriers, signage, and notifications to ensure a safe environment.
• Complete daily work records and report incidents or safety concerns to a supervisor.
• Assist other departments during events, inclement weather, and post-storm cleanup.
