Job summary

The City of Whittier is seeking an Equipment Operator to perform skilled operation of light to moderately heavy equipment in the construction, maintenance, or repair of City facilities. You will follow a work plan, read plans, and comply with safety standards under general supervision from the Street Maintenance Supervisor.

Responsibilities include assisting the line crew, performing routine inspections and preventive maintenance, and maintaining positive working relationships with community

Qualifications

• One year of experience operating similar, moderately heavy equipment.
• Valid Class B California driver’s license.
• DL 51A health certification and CA endorsements required.
• Some assignments may require Class A California driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Operate light to moderately heavy equipment per schedule and safety standards.
• Read plans and determine task requirements.
• Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on equipment.
