Position Summary

Responsible for operating various types of heavy equipment, including but not limited to front end loaders (4CY or greater), motor grader, excavator (20 ton class or larger), dozer, scraper, tractor - pan, track hoe, skid pan, trencher, and applicable light and medium equipment to perform construction tasks such as land clearing, excavation, pond/reservoir excavation, roadway grading, and underground utility work for heavy civil, industrial, and wind projects.

Responsibilities

• Promote and comply with all company and safety policies and procedures.
• Operate heavy equipment with knowledge of functions, navigation, problem assessment, and mechanical aptitude.
• Build level or extreme terrain, excavate land surfaces, and load materials using various equipment.
• Drive and maneuver equipment to remove topsoil, vegetation, rocks, and level earth.
• Load dirt, stone, materials, and waste onto trucks.
• Excavate trenches with proper slopes per OSHA standards.
• Coordinate machine actions with crew signals and movements.
• Communicate effectively to ensure safety and understanding of duties.
• Perform maintenance such as cleaning, greasing, and oiling machines; document maintenance activities.
• Travel to different job sites as needed.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

• 1-3 years of related experience or equivalent education.
• Minimum 1 year of heavy equipment operation experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Knowledge of safety programs and regulations.
• Participate in daily safety meetings.
• Set a safe example for others.
• Ability to interpret safety and operational documents.
• Basic math skills for measurements and calculations.
• Follow instructions accurately and reliably.

Physical Demands

• Work up to 12 hours in varying outdoor conditions.
• Maintain physical strength and stamina; lift up to 50 pounds.
• Work in extreme weather, at heights, and in confined spaces with proper safety gear.
• Visual and auditory acuity required for safe operation.
