Job summary

Bartlesville City of (OK) is seeking a skilled maintenance worker to serve as a lead worker in street operations, training staff, assigning tasks, and reporting issues.

You will operate a wide range of heavy equipment for street maintenance, perform routine repairs, lay concrete, move dirt, remove snow, and support building and grounds work.

A valid CDL Class A, a high school diploma or GED, and 2–3 years of related experience are required, along with good communication and safety awareness.

Qualifications

  • Ability to communicate information effectively in person and in groups.
  • Basic math for rates, ratios, and graphs.
  • Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.

Responsibilities

  • Lead worker responsibilities including training, assigning and directing work, making recommendations in performance appraisal, and reporting problems to supervisor.
  • Operate graders, track loaders, rubber tire loaders, flusher truck, asphalt oil distributor, asphalt laydown machine, rubber tire and steel wheel rollers, tractors, bulldozers, telescoping boom excavator, backhoes, bobcat skid loader, and bearcat crack sealer in street maintenance activities.
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on all assigned equipment.
  • Hauls gravel to work site.
  • Pours and finishes concrete work.
  • Moves and levels dirt for construction projects.
  • Removes snow from streets as required.
  • Assists in general building and grounds maintenance activities.
  • Operates patch asphalt truck in the patching and repair of City streets.
  • Checks all temperatures and gauges for road oil and heat transfer.
  • Assists in other departments as required.
  • Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.

Education and Experience

High School diploma or GED; and Two to three years of related experience; or, Any combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.

Required License

Must have a valid Commercial Driver's License Class A

COMMUNICATION SKILLS

Ability to effectively communicate information and respond to questions in person-to-person and small group situations with customers, clients, general public and other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to prepare and interpret bar graphs.

CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS

Ability to utilize common sense understanding in order to carry out written, oral or diagrammed instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving several known variables in situations of a routine nature.
