Primary Responsibilities And Duties
- Operate a variety of vehicles and large heavy equipment while performing maintenance and repairs on roads and rights-of-way, including loading, hauling, and dumping on various surfaces.
- Load gravel, dirt, and sand; smooth and grade roads; spread rock and gravel.
- Construct ditches and trenches for culverts, water pipes, and sewer pipes; remove silt and debris.
- Maintain equipment by checking and maintaining all fluid levels and lubrication.
- Instruct and train employees in the safe operation of construction equipment and tools, as well as job techniques and skills.
- Inspect equipment, structures, or materials to identify errors, problems, or defects.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent, with relevant experience preferred.
- Working knowledge of equipment operation and maintenance.
- Ability to understand, follow, and transmit written and oral instructions; effective communication skills.
- Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and layout tools safely and efficiently.
Requirements
- Ability to move about a construction site, including standing, walking, sitting, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling.
- Work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Work irregular hours, including weekends, overtime, and holidays.
- Ability to climb ladders, scaffolds, and mechanical platforms, sometimes exceeding 200 feet.
- Work in confined, cluttered, and uneven environments.
- Lift and move items up to 50 pounds.
- Possession of a U.S. Driver License may be required.
- Comply with safety and project rules; pass drug, alcohol, and background checks.
