Job description

Position Summary

Operation of excavator, bulldozer, and motor grader to perform grading, drainage, concrete paving, and other civil construction activities.

Experience Level: Intermediate

Primary Responsibilities and Duties:

1. Operate a variety of vehicles and large heavy equipment, performing maintenance and repairs on roads and rights-of-way, including loading, hauling, and dumping on various surfaces.
2. Load gravel, dirt, and sand; smooth and grade roads; spread rock and gravel.
3. Trench and construct ditches for culverts, water pipes, and sewer pipes; remove silt and debris.
4. Check and maintain all fluid levels and lubrication of equipment.
5. Instruct and train employees in the safe operation of construction equipment and tools, and in job techniques and skills.
6. Inspect equipment, structures, or materials to identify errors, problems, or defects.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent, with relevant experience.
• Knowledge and skills relevant to the position.
• Ability to understand, follow, and transmit written and oral instructions; communicate effectively.
• Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and layout tools safely and efficiently.

Requirements:

• Experience operating CAT 335-349 excavators, CAT D6-D8 bulldozers, and 14M motor graders.
• Experience utilizing GPS in heavy equipment.
• Ability to work in outdoor construction environments, including standing, walking, crawling, and working in various weather conditions.
• Ability to work irregular hours, including weekends, overtime, and holidays.
• Capability to climb ladders and work at heights, move items weighing up to 50 pounds, and work in confined or cluttered spaces.
• Possession of required tools and a valid U.S. Driver's License may be required.
• Ability to pass drug and alcohol testing.
