Job Description

The Bryan County Board of Commissioners is now accepting applications for a full-time Equipment Operator Class A in our Public Works Department.

The following duties are typical for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.

1. Operates a lowboy tractor and trailer to move equipment, dump trucks, and other heavy equipment such as motor-graders, bulldozers, track-excavators, and rubber-tired excavators.
2. Inspects and prepares equipment for safe and proper operation.
3. May operate additional equipment such as backhoes, track front-end loaders, pothole patchers, and similar machinery to support public works operations.
4. Performs unskilled and semi-skilled labor, including debris pickup, operating chainsaws, and similar tasks.
5. Punctuality and attendance are essential.
6. Performs other related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED required; at least two years of experience in heavy equipment operation or a related field preferred; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities. Must possess and maintain a valid Class A CDL Driver’s License.
