Job Description

The Bryan County Board of Commissioners is now accepting applications for a full-time Equipment Operator Class C in our Public Works Department.

This position involves operating various light equipment to complete assigned public works operations.

The following duties are typical for this position. They are not exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be assigned as needed.

1. Inspect and prepare equipment for safe and proper operation.
2. Operate equipment such as tandem axle dump trucks, front-end loaders, grass tractors, pickup trucks, pothole patchers, vibrator rollers, and chippers.
3. Perform preventative maintenance including changing oil, refueling, and lubricating; ensure repairs are completed; change flat tires.
4. Perform unskilled and semi-skilled labor such as picking up debris, operating chain saws, and similar tasks.
5. Punctuality and attendance are essential.
6. Perform other related duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High School Diploma or GED required; at least one year of experience in light equipment operation or a related field; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Valid Driver’s License is required and must be maintained.
