Job summary

Florida Department of Transportation is seeking an Equipment Operator in DeLand, FL (District Five, DeLand Maintenance). You will perform minor maintenance, service equipment, and operate a range of heavy and light equipment in district maintenance projects, including bridge and roadway work.

Career Service, State of Florida benefits and on-site duties apply. Qualified applicants must have a valid Class E license (CDL required with driver training plan), and be prepared for 24-hour on-call

Qualifications

• One year experience operating small/medium equipment.
• Valid Class E driver’s license is required at hire.
• CDL Class B permit within 60 days and CDL with air brakes within 10 months.

Responsibilities

• Performs minor maintenance and servicing on equipment.
• Operates and maintains equipment used in district maintenance.
• Performs tree trimming, rough carpentry, masonry, painting, and sign erection as needed.
• Complies with safety rules and maintains reports and forms.
