Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Perform excavation, trenching, backfilling, grading, and material handling.
• Install conduit and cable per STRATA standards and project specs.
• Inspect, maintain, clean, and safely store equipment and tools.
• Load/unload and transport equipment in compliance with laws and guidelines.
• Maintain a safe worksite for employees and the public.
• Interpret construction plans and provide accurate project redlines.
• Communicate project updates with supervisors and team members.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Salary Range: $25.00 To $35.00 Hourly

About the Role

STRATA Networks is seeking a skilled and safety-focused Equipment Operator to support the construction, installation, and maintenance of telecommunications and fiber optic infrastructure. This role involves operating heavy equipment, performing excavation and trenching, installing conduit and cable, and completing manual labor tasks to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to company specifications.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you’ll:

• Operate construction equipment, including mini excavators, backhoes, vibratory plows, micro-trenchers, and other machinery based on experience and competency.
• Perform excavation, trenching, backfilling, grading, material handling, and general construction labor.
• Install conduit and cable according to STRATA standards and project specifications.
• Inspect, maintain, clean, and safely store equipment, vehicles, and tools.
• Load, unload, and transport equipment and materials in compliance with applicable laws and UDOT guidelines.
• Maintain a safe worksite for employees and the public.
• Interpret construction plans and provide accurate project redlines.
• Communicate project updates with supervisors and team members.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Work Environment and Conditions

• Outdoor construction sites in all weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, snow, dust, and mud.
• Work near streets, highways, traffic, trenches, and other potentially hazardous environments.
• Physically demanding work, generally 10-hour days and potentially up to 15 hours during peak construction season.
• Irregular hours and occasional out-of-town assignments.

Physical Demands

• Ability to lift objects weighing over 100 pounds.
• Ability to operate heavy equipment, hand tools, and power-driven machinery.
• Ability to enter and exit trenches, manholes, and vaults.
• Ability to perform strenuous manual labor for extended periods.
