Job summary

Commonwealth of Pennsylvania seeks an Equipment Operator A at Wernersville State Hospital to operate buses, trucks, tractors and equipment up to 32,000 lb, supporting daily operations and transporting people and materials around the grounds.

The role includes grounds maintenance, winter snow removal, and routine vehicle upkeep, with a 7:00 AM–3:00 PM schedule, potential overtime, and no telework option. Must have PA residency and obtain a CDL within the probationary period.

Qualifications

• Six months experience in operation and maintenance of large vans, buses and single-chassis trucks (GVW 10,001 lb+).
• Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
• A valid Class C Pennsylvania driver’s license is required.

Responsibilities

• Operate buses, trucks, tractors and other equipment up to 32,000 pounds to support daily hospital needs.
• Perform grounds maintenance such as mowing and trimming to keep the grounds safe and attractive.
• Clear roads and walkways during winter using plows and de-icing equipment.
• Transport consumers, staff, supplies and materials on and off hospital grounds.
• Clean, inspect and perform minor repairs to vehicles and tools.
• Complete inspections and follow safety standards during operations.
