The Equipment Operator is responsible for operating a variety of equipment for road construction purposes. Duties include but may not be limited to, the following positions: Equipment Operator, Heavy Equipment Operator, Chip Spreader, Front End Loader, Asphalt Paver,
Requirements
Essential Job Functions
- Safely and efficiently operate a variety of heavy equipment in road construction settings.
- Perform Daily Equipment Checklists and ensure the equipment is in good running order.
- Communicate with Project Supervisor as to the daily job specifications.
- Ability to follow directions and communicate clearly with supervisors, co-workers and the general public.
- Ensure a safe working environment in compliance with all Company safety policies and procedures.
- Assist in the placement, moving and dismantling of signs, barricades, cones and other traffic control devices.
- Perform flagging duties to safely help the general public through work zones.
- Perform general labor tasks as required.
- Perform essential job functions and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications And Education Requirements:
- Be able to communicate appropriately with co-workers, supervisors, and the general public.
- Related experience in road construction and paving (preferred).
- High school education or GED equivalent (preferred).
- Heavy Equipment Operators should have 3+ years of related experience in road construction and paving (preferred).
Qualifications:
- Pass a pre-employment drug screen.
- Pass a pre-employment “Fit for Work” physical.
- Be able to provide valid documentation for the I-9 Immigration document.
- Must be willing to travel when needed.
- Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors and the general public at all times.
- Report to work at the designated start time.
- Be able to work long hours in extreme weather.
- Strictly adhere to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook and OSHA guidelines.
- Have the willingness to work in a team environment and assist co–workers or supervisors with other duties as required.
- Possess a valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
- Be at least age 18 years of age.
Physical Requirements
- Lift, carry and hold tools, supplies and materials.
- Stand for long periods of time.
- Work in extreme weather conditions for extended periods of time.
