Pay Schedule II, Grade H17, Regular Schedule: 40 hours per week
Vacancies exist in the Department of Public Works, Bureau of Solid Waste Management.

Job Purpose
Under general supervision, drives tandem-axle commercial weight vehicles, tows construction equipment, and/or operates specialized equipment.

Minimum Requirements
One year's experience in driving tandem-axle commercial weight vehicles or operating equipment as listed in examples of essential duties.
Age Requirement
Non-Maryland residents must be at least 21 years of age at the time of appointment.
Licenses and Certificates
Possession of a valid driver's license equivalent to a commercial, class B Maryland driver's license is required at the time of application. Some positions may require possession of a valid driver's license equivalent to a commercial, class A Maryland driver's license. (License may require endorsements and/or the absence of certain restrictions.)
Possession of a current Medical Examiner's Certificate in accordance with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations is required at the time of application.
All licenses and certificates must be maintained throughout employment.

EXAMINATION PROCEDURE
Applicants will be qualified based on an evaluation of their training and experience, as stated on their application, which includes answers to the supplemental questions. Applicants must state the dates and duties of past and present experience clearly and completely for evaluation purposes.
Physical and Environmental Conditions
The work of this classification entails the performance of heavy physical labor including bending, stooping, lifting and carrying heavy objects, and the operation of vehicles, tools, and heavy equipment. Some work requires exposure to potentially hazardous conditions such as standing in traffic and adverse weather.
Medical Examination and Employment Background Investigation
Applicants selected for employment with Baltimore County must successfully complete a physical examination, drug screening, and employment investigation, including, but not limited to a criminal background, education certification, and fingerprint checks.
