Job summary

FALL CREEK FARM & NURSERY in New Richmond, WI is seeking an entry-level Operations Production Operator. Under supervision, you will operate heavy equipment including backhoes, trackhoes, skid steers, loaders, plows and trenchers on job sites, following safety procedures.

You will perform site setup, identify utilities, dig trenches, restore disturbed areas, and assist crew members as needed. A $1,000 sign-on bonus is offered if you stay 6 months, with $500 after 3 months and $500 after 6 months.

Qualifications

  • Minimum six months previous experience or training.
  • Must be able to pass a drug test.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Knowledge of safety systems for equipment operation.
  • Ability to load, unload and transport equipment.
  • Understand compaction requirements for ground conditions.
  • Maintain equipment daily and follow hours of service requirements.
  • Possess or obtain CDL Class A license.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operates equipment on jobsite.
  • Safely identifies utilities in the construction area.
  • Dig pits, trenches or potholes as directed by the job plan.
  • Restores and landscapes disturbed areas of the jobsite.
  • Demonstrates skills to crew members.
  • Responsible for site setup and cleanup.
  • Attends safety meetings and uses prescribed safety equipment.
  • Reports unsafe acts/conditions immediately.
  • Occasionally performs laborer duties when operations require.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Under general supervision, this position performs tasks related to the operation of various heavy equipment, including but not limited to backhoe’s, trackhoe’s, skid steers, loaders, plows, bore machines, etc.

What you’ll do

We are currently offering a $1,000 sign on bonus if you, as the new employee, stay for 6 months ($500 after 3 months, and another $500 after 6 months)

  • Safely operates equipment on jobsite
  • Safely identifies utilities in the construction area
  • Dig pits, trenches or potholes as directed by job plan including windows when crossing utilities
  • Restores and/or landscapes disturbed areas of the jobsite
  • Demonstrates job skill, procedures and techniques to crew members
  • Responsible for the site set-up and clean-up
  • The Operator shall follow all safety rules at all times.
  • The Operator shall not engage in unsafe acts.
  • The Operator is expected to attend and participate in all safety meetings and training.
  • The Operator shall use all prescribed safety equipment that is required to safely do the job at hand.
  • The Operator shall report unsafe acts or conditions to his or her immediate Supervisor or Safety Personnel.
  • The Operator shall report any and all injuries, accidents and/or incidents immediately their immediate Supervisor.
  • On occasion, the operator will need to perform laborer duties when the operating duties are completed.
  • Other duties as assigned
What you’ll need
  • Minimum six (6) months previous experience or training
  • Must be able to pass a drug test
  • This position requires the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Knowledge and understanding of “safety systems” associated with equipment operation including set-up and emergency procedures
  • Knowledge and understanding of loading, unloading and transport procedures for equipment
  • Knowledge and understanding of compaction requirements for ground conditions or customer needs
  • Knowledge and understanding of and perform proper daily maintenance on equipment
  • Knowledge and understanding of the proper care of equipment including hours of service requirements
  • Knowledge and understanding of support equipment operation, digging equipment, vacuum-units, reel trailers, backhoes, plows and trenchers
  • Must have or be able to obtain CDL Class “A” driver’s license

Physical abilities & exposures

  • Routinely: work alone in remote locations with arms above shoulder level, operate vehicle and heavy machinery, squeeze, fine hand motions, bend, stoop, stand, walk, climb stairs and lift greater than 55 pounds
  • Occasionally: work in confined spaces, use ladder, keyboard and mouse
