Key Responsibilities:
  1. Safely operate and/or have the ability to operate various equipment including forklift, bobcat, backhoe, track hoe, compactor, and/or steer equipment to bale, load, and move waste material.
  2. Operate necessary equipment to bale and load waste material into trailers.
  3. Perform inspection and maintenance checks of equipment daily.
  4. Grease/lubricate equipment, check and add fluids to equipment daily.
  5. Steer, guide, and/or drive the above-listed equipment at the assigned site(s) using steering wheel, shifters, levers, buttons, and pedals.
  6. Substitute for another operator if someone is absent or as needed/required.
  7. Clean trash from tracks of heavy equipment by pulling and/or cutting material away from tracks and gear mechanisms at least once daily or more if needed.
  8. Use a two-way radio to communicate with co-workers regarding work activities, requirements, and priorities.
  9. Conform to all applicable laws, regulations, ordinances, and company policies.
  10. Maintain the appearance of the grounds and facility.
  11. Attend safety and branch meetings.
  12. Perform other duties as required or requested by management.
Requirements:
  1. High school diploma or GED desired, but not required.
  2. Completion of forklift certification.
  3. Ability to obtain Transfer Station / Landfill Operations Certification if needed.
  4. Operate equipment such as excavator, forklift/bobcat, front-loader, baler, backhoe, track hoe, bulldozer, compactor, and/or steer equipment, with appropriate safety gear.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  1. Ability to follow instructions and work independently.
  2. Apply common sense to solve problems involving multiple variables.
  3. Perform basic math functions and understand equipment gauges.
  4. Proficient in reading, speaking, understanding, and writing English.
  5. Frequently lift/push/pull up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
  6. Work outdoors in various weather conditions.
Physical/Mental Demands:
  1. Ability to stand, sit, walk, use hands, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, hear, climb, balance, taste, and smell.
  2. Visual requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception, and focus adjustment.
  3. Frequently lift/push/pull up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
Working Conditions:
  1. Exposure to loud noise, humidity, weather, moving parts, vibration, chemicals, fumes, and airborne particles.
  2. Work environment is usually moderate to loud.
  3. Work in outdoor environments, often inside heavy equipment covered cabs, but exposed to weather.
  4. Occasionally work at heights.
