This trainee role involves operating highway construction and maintenance equipment, along with manual labor duties on highway or bridge maintenance crews. The training includes obtaining necessary licenses and certifications to operate heavy construction equipment such as Heavy Truck/Tandem Axle (HT/TA) and loaders with a bucket capacity of 4.5 cubic yards or less. The trainee will learn to perform safety checks, make adjustments, and operate various controls, as well as manual tasks like flagging and traffic control.
