Position Overview

This trainee role involves operating highway construction and maintenance equipment, along with manual labor duties on highway or bridge maintenance crews. The training includes obtaining necessary licenses and certifications to operate heavy construction equipment such as Heavy Truck/Tandem Axle (HT/TA) and loaders with a bucket capacity of 4.5 cubic yards or less. The trainee will learn to perform safety checks, make adjustments, and operate various controls, as well as manual tasks like flagging and traffic control.

Work Schedule and Details

• Full-time employment, Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with a 30-minute lunch.
• Travel, overtime, and shift work required; hours may vary seasonally.
• Telework is not available for this position.
• Salary may be non-negotiable in some cases.

Qualifications and Requirements

Special Requirements:

• Valid Pennsylvania non-commercial Class C Driver's License or equivalent.
• Valid Pennsylvania Class A or B Commercial Driver Learner's Permit on the first day of work.
• Valid Medical Examiner's Certificate per Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations on the first day.

Conditions of Employment:

• Some positions require manual transmission vehicle operation.
• Subject to Drug and Alcohol testing under Federal Regulations.
