Job summary

Avangrid is seeking an Equipment Operator in East Hartford, CT. You will learn operating routine for earth-moving equipment and achieve entry-level proficiency within three months, perform minor repairs, maintenance, and assist with major repairs as needed.

This role includes fieldwork, possible hazardous waste handling, on-call emergency coverage rotating hours, and a DOT safety-sensitive environment requiring pre-employment drug screening.

Qualifications

• Must understand and follow oral and written instructions.
• Elementary knowledge of gasoline and diesel motors and automotive equipment.
• Some experience in operation and repair of construction & automotive equipment.
• Good mechanical ability and knowledge of earth-moving equipment.
• CDL B license with a good driving record.
• Aptitude to operate all Distribution Division equipment safely.
• Must know the layout of streets within the territory served.
• Willingness to perform other classifications and assist crew when not operating.

Responsibilities

**POSITION -** Equipment Operator **NUMBER OF POSITIONS** - 1 **LOCATION** - **CNG**- CT - East Hartford - Meadow St**HOURLY RATE RANGE:** $41.86 – 49.00***Responsibilities**** Must learn operating routine of all earth-moving equipment used by the Company and must be capable of obtaining entry-level operating proficiency within three months.* Is responsible for minor repairs and general maintenance of earth-moving equipment, including greasing, oiling, refueling, and assisting with other major repairs, as required.* Performs work of other classifications when not operating earth-moving equipment.* Learns and assists in duties of higher classifications as to qualify for promotion.* Works in field at times without direct supervision.* May involve handling hazardous waste. Training will be provided by the Company to meet requirements of 40 CFR 265.16.*\\* Any applicant transferring into the department or filling this position from the outside will be required to provide after-hours and weekend emergency coverage on a rotating basis (on-call coverage).***THIS IS A DOT SAFETY-SENSITIVE POSITION.
