Job Summary

Safely operates a variety of heavy equipment, including but not limited to backhoes, excavators, dozers, loaders, graders, haul trucks, dump trucks, water trucks. Responsible for preventative maintenance and pre-shift walk-around of the assigned equipment to ensure safe operation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain positive working relationships with all crew members.
  • Produce high-quality work safely and productively at all times.
  • Provide feedback to ensure all materials, tools, equipment, and information are available for the work.
  • Look for opportunities for improvement in all tasks, learn from others.
  • Share knowledge and teach others.
  • High proficiency in all related equipment preventative maintenance.
  • Inspect subordinates' work, ensure accuracy and compliance, explain deficiencies, and take corrective actions.
  • Eliminate waste such as waiting, rework, transportation, material storage, and time.

Minimum Job Requirements

  • Minimum of three years (Level I), four years (Level II), five years (Level III), or six+ years’ experience in industrial/commercial construction, with an understanding of heavy equipment operation.
  • Ability to read and understand drawings, specifications, safety, and quality standards; effectively use trade tools and equipment.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Physical Requirements

  • Work up to 12-hour shifts doing physical work in varying temperatures and outside conditions.
  • Climb and maintain balance on steel/wood framework, stairs, ladders, scaffolds.
  • Lift, push, or pull objects up to 50 lbs occasionally.
  • Use hands frequently to grasp, lift, handle, carry objects.
  • Comply with all safety standards and procedures.
  • Reach above shoulder heights and below waist frequently.
  • Stoop, kneel, or bend occasionally.
  • Wear personal protective equipment as required.
  • Move in and around confined, cluttered, and uneven areas.

Safety Level

Safety-Sensitive: Tasks that could affect safety and health, including operating machinery, handling hazardous materials, etc.
