Job summary

Wayne Brothers, Inc. seeks an experienced equipment operator/grader to work outdoors on site projects in Davidson, NC. You will operate heavy equipment safely, mentor apprentices, and assist with daily goals and quality standards.

Responsibilities include logging daily inspections, communicating with supervision, and leading crews to meet project milestones while prioritizing safety and efficiency. OSHA 10 compliance is required; travel and longer hours may occur.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Vocational training in grading/site development preferred.
  • Experience reading civil plans.
  • OSHA 10-Hour certification required.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate equipment and maintain daily inspection logs and PM checks.
  • Communicate issues to project supervision to avoid downtime.
  • Lead crews to ensure quality and production targets.
  • Understand soil/compaction requirements and field conditions and report to supervision.
  • Maintain a safe, incident-free work environment for all personnel on site.

Position Description
POSITION SUMMARY

To operate equipment safely and efficiently as assigned, while meeting production goals and quality standards while mentoring apprentices and operator techs, who are working with you, to grow in their roles and operating capabilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Safely operate equipment, without incident while maintaining daily inspection logs as well as daily preventative maintenance checks
  • Efficiently / effectively operate equipment to increase engagement and decrease downtime, while properly communicating with the project Supervision on any issues that are encountered throughout the day
  • Work hand in hand with other team members to encourage their growth and the overall progress towards the daily, weekly, monthly and overall project goals
  • Understand how to utilize the assigned technology to operate more efficiently, reduce cycle times as well as overall grading durations and insure proper drainage at all times
  • Capable of understanding soil and compaction requirements and communicating with the project Supervision what is being experienced in the field related to soil types
  • Performs all assigned tasks, responsibilities, and related work processes in the safest possible manner, always ensuring that a safe, accident/incident-free work environment is maintained for all coworkers, clients, suppliers, etc. at all times.

Education and/or Experience
  • High School Diploma/GED – Preferred
  • Vocational or technical training/work experience in grading/site development/construction - Preferred

  • Complete the operator skills test for motorgrader
