Equipment Operator (Construction)

The Equipment Operator is responsible for moving vessels for haul & launch, work, storage, or sales, and for inspecting, repairing, and maintaining equipment. Job titles may vary based on trade (e.g., Equipment Operator (Service), (Storage), (Marina)).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment such as marine forklifts, travel lifts, and hydraulic trailers
• Operate machinery efficiently and safely, demonstrating proper vessel handling
• Move vessels to designated areas in and out of water
• Inspect, maintain, and repair equipment to ensure functionality
• Perform yard work including pressure washing, bottom painting, blocking, and general maintenance
• Assist with ground maintenance and marina cleanliness
• Work overtime as required
• Perform other duties as assigned by management

Safety and Environmental Responsibilities

Follow SHM safety and environmental policies, complete required training, wear appropriate PPE, and report incidents immediately.

Technical and Physical Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 2-3 years relevant experience preferred
• Heavy forklift operation certification required
• Ability to ascend/descend ladders, work in all weather conditions, confined spaces, and lift 50 pounds
• Basic boat handling skills preferred
• Valid driver’s license required
