Job Description

Perform work involving the operation of specialized equipment used in construction and repair, ditching, and maintenance. Drive and operate heavy equipment such as excavators, boring machines, wheel-type ditching machines, graders, front-end loaders, and backhoes. Experience with burying drops is preferred. May operate smaller and less complex equipment as necessary. Clear and dig drainage ditches, dig and backfill trenches. Have some knowledge of operation characteristics and maintenance of machines and equipment operated, as well as the methods, techniques, and procedures of construction and repair work involving heavy equipment. Must be able to perform strenuous labor for extended periods; work in extreme weather conditions; withstand constant vibration from equipment; climb in and out of trenches; lift up to 50 lbs; understand oral and written instructions. This is a safety-sensitive position and may require travel, overtime, and some weekends. Transportation to out-of-town job sites will be provided.

Experience with reading blueprints is required.

A valid CDL license is required; CDL certification is a plus.

A candidate must pass a background check and submit to a substance screening test.

The successful candidate must be proficient in the operation of directional bore rigs, backhoes, excavators, and trenchers. They may also be asked to demonstrate their skills in operating common construction equipment in realistic situations.
