Job summary

CMC is hiring for construction reinforcement roles committed to safety and quality. You’ll join a team that erects structural frameworks and places reinforcing steel across diverse projects.

At CMC you’ll gain hands-on training, long-term career growth, and a comprehensive benefits package starting Day 1, including health coverage, PTO, retirement matching, and employee stock plans. You will work on site on major steel and infrastructure projects.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Completion of an apprenticeship program is desirable.
  • Ability to read technical documents and service manuals.

Responsibilities

  • Erect the structural framework for high rise buildings, bridges, power plants and towers.
  • Place reinforcing steel in concrete forms for roadways, foundations and structures.
  • Welding, rigging and machinery moving.
  • Use information from a variety of sources to select materials and needed amounts for a project.
  • Use details from plans to bolt metal structures securely.
  • Transport heavy metal pieces using cranes and teamwork.
  • Ensure proper placement and alignment using levels and laser tools.
  • Transform metal pieces into functional elements by fabrication.

What You'll Do
  • Erect the structural framework for high rise buildings, bridges, power plants and towers
  • Place reinforcing steel in concrete forms for roadways, foundations and structures
  • Welding, rigging and machinery moving
  • Use information from a variety of sources in order to select proper materials and the needed amounts for a project
  • Use details from written plans and instructions from supervisors in order to securely bolt metal structures together
  • Transport heavy metal pieces from the ground level to a higher location using tools like cranes or working with other team members to help position pieces correctly
  • Ensure proper placement, balance and alignment of structural pieces by using levels, laser tools or plumb bobs
  • Transform metal pieces into functional elements by cutting materials and using fabrication techniques
What You'll Need
  • Minimum 1 year working with heavy industrial environment experience preferred but not required
  • Communicate effectively – oral and written
  • Possess a strong work ethic and practice safe working habits
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds, climb ladders and steps
  • Must be able to work overtime, either planned or unplanned for emergency situations
  • Must be able to read technical documents and service manuals
  • Must be able and willing to cross train as required
  • Must be able to work outside under all weather conditions to include working in the heat and cold weather
  • Stand for long periods of time
  • Perform the rigorous manual labor required by the trade and have a natural ability to work at high elevations
  • Have a good sense of balance
  • Follow the proper OSHA regulations
Your Education
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred
  • Completion of an apprenticeship program from the local union hall
