Job description

POSITION: Heavy Equipment Oiler / Fuel & Lube Truck Driver

LOCATION: Minidoka County, Idaho. On site every working day for the duration of the project.

PAY: $19.00 – $25.00 per hour, depending on experience and endorsements

JOB SUMMARY

The Heavy Equipment Oiler keeps WW Clyde's iron running. This role is responsible for fueling, greasing, and servicing all heavy equipment on the project, performing scheduled preventive maintenance, and catching problems before they become breakdowns.

You will run a fuel and lube truck across the job site, service equipment in the field and at the yard, and work alongside the field mechanics. Equipment does not wait, so much of the work happens before and after crews run, in whatever weather southern Idaho is having that day.

The best oilers are the ones who notice things. A seal starting to weep, a pin getting loose, a hose rubbing. Catching that on a grease round instead of on a Tuesday afternoon when a dozer goes down is the whole point of the job.

This position reports to the Shop Foreman or Field Mechanic and works closely with equipment operators, foremen, and the Superintendent.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Fuel all equipment on the project, including dozers, excavators, scrapers, loaders, compactors, graders, haul trucks, and support equipment.
  • Grease and lubricate equipment per manufacturer specifications and the project service schedule, hitting all grease points on the correct interval.
  • Check and maintain all fluid levels including engine oil, hydraulic fluid, coolant, transmission fluid, and DEF.
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance including oil changes, oil filter changes, fuel filter changes, air filter service, and pulling oil samples for analysis.
  • Safely operate and maintain the fuel and lube truck, including daily pre trip and post trip inspections, and keep it stocked, clean, and ready.
  • Inspect equipment during service rounds for leaks, worn or damaged components, loose hardware, low tire pressure, and anything else trending toward failure. Report findings to the mechanic and Shop Foreman promptly.
  • Keep accurate records of fuel dispensed, hour meter readings, services performed, and fluids used.
  • Assist field mechanics with repairs, component changes, and troubleshooting as needed.
  • Handle, store, and dispose of fuel, oils, filters, and used fluids in compliance with environmental regulations. Contain and clean up any spills immediately and report them.
  • Maintain a clean, organized service area and secure all fuel and lubricant storage.
  • Follow all WW Clyde safety policies, OSHA requirements, and DOT regulations. Participate in daily safety huddles and toolbox talks.
  • Work extended hours, early mornings, evenings, and occasional weekends as the project schedule requires.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
  • Valid Commercial Driver's License (Class A or B) with Hazardous Materials (H) endorsement.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age and maintain an insurable driving record.
  • Ability to pass a DOT physical and participate in the FMCSA random drug and alcohol testing program.
  • Experience fueling, greasing, and servicing heavy construction equipment, or comparable mechanical experience.
  • Working knowledge of lubricants, greases, hydraulic fluids, and filters, and the ability to identify the correct product for each application.
  • Ability to read and follow manufacturer service schedules and equipment manuals.
  • Ability to keep accurate service and fuel records.
  • Reliable attendance and willingness to work the hours the job requires, including early starts and weather dependent schedules.
  • Ability to work outdoors in Idaho winter conditions for the duration of the project.
Preferred
  • Mechanic experience, including field repairs, component replacement, or diagnostic work. Not required, but a strong plus.
  • Tanker (N) endorsement, or the combined (X) endorsement.
  • Experience operating a lube truck or service truck on an active construction site.
  • Familiarity with Caterpillar, Komatsu, Deere, or Volvo equipment.
  • MSHA Part 46 certification, or ability to obtain.
  • OSHA 10 Hour certification.
  • Experience with electronic service tracking or fleet maintenance software.
  • Welding or fabrication experience.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Climb on and off equipment, ladders, and service platforms and maintain balance.
  • Bend, kneel, crawl, reach, and work in confined or awkward positions.
  • Push, pull, lift, or move up to 80 lbs.
  • Stand, walk, and drive for extended periods.
  • Work outdoors in extreme cold, heat, wind, snow, dirt, and dust.
  • Exposure to fuel, oils, greases, solvents, chemicals, and equipment noise.
