Job summary

WW Clyde is hiring Heavy Equipment Operators for an underground pipeline project in Minidoka County, Idaho. The work involves open cut trench installation of large diameter HDPE pipe, drainage structures and tie ins.

Operators will run excavators, dozers, loaders, backhoes, and compaction equipment; duties include trenching to line and grade, working around shoring, and backfilling. This is a project-based position reporting to supervision on site.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience operating heavy equipment in underground, pipeline, or heavy civil construction.
  • Excavator experience on trench and pipeline work, including digging to grade and working around crews in the ditch.
  • Ability to read grade stakes and cut sheets and work to line and grade.
  • Understanding of trench safety, shoring systems, and spoil pile management.
  • Reliable attendance and willingness to work the hours the job requires.
  • Ability to work outdoors in Idaho winter conditions for the duration of the project.
  • Valid driver's license and insurable driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Operate excavators, dozers, loaders, backhoes, and compaction equipment safely and productively.
  • Excavate trench to line, grade, and depth, working from grade stakes, laser, or GPS machine control.
  • Work around shoring and trench boxes, including setting and pulling boxes as directed.
  • Set and lower pipe into the trench, working with crew members in the ditch and following the Foreman's signals.
  • Place bedding material, backfill, and compact per specification.
  • Excavate for drainage structures, sumps, and tie in locations.
  • Maintain safe spoil pile setback and stay clear of utilities, locates, and personnel at all times.
  • Perform daily pre operation inspections and report mechanical issues to the mechanic or Foreman promptly.
  • Grease and service equipment as assigned and keep machines clean.
  • Follow all WW Clyde safety policies, OSHA excavation requirements, and site specific rules. Participate in daily safety huddles.
  • Work extended hours and weather dependent schedules as the project requires.

Overview

POSITION: Heavy Equipment Operator

LOCATION: Minidoka County, Idaho. On site every working day for the duration of the project.

PAY: $28 - $35/hr

DURATION: Project based position beginning September 2026 and running through spring 2027. This is a non union position.

JOB SUMMARY

WW Clyde is hiring Heavy Equipment Operators for an underground pipeline project in Minidoka County, Idaho. The work is open cut trench installation of large diameter HDPE pipe, along with drainage structures and tie ins.

Operators on this job will primarily run excavators, digging trench to line and grade, working around shoring, setting pipe, and backfilling. Dozer, loader, and compaction work will also be part of the job depending on the day and the crew's needs.

This position reports to the Foreman and works under the direction of the Superintendent.

QUALIFICATIONS
Required
  • 2+ years of experience operating heavy equipment in underground, pipeline, or heavy civil construction.
  • Proven excavator experience on trench and pipeline work, including digging to grade and working around crews in the ditch.
  • Ability to read grade stakes and cut sheets and work to line and grade.
  • Understanding of trench safety, shoring systems, and spoil pile management.
  • Reliable attendance and willingness to work the hours the job requires.
  • Ability to work outdoors in Idaho winter conditions for the duration of the project.
  • Valid driver's license and insurable driving record.
Preferred
  • Experience installing large diameter HDPE or similar pipe.
  • Experience with GPS machine control (Trimble, Topcon, or similar).
  • Ability to run multiple machine types including dozer, loader, and roller.
  • OSHA 10 Hour certification.
  • Competent Person training for excavation and trenching.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Climb on and off equipment and maintain balance.
  • Sit and operate controls for extended periods.
  • Bend, kneel, reach, and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Work outdoors in extreme cold, heat, wind, snow, dirt, and dust.
  • Exposure to equipment noise, vibration, fuels, and lubricants.
