Job Description:

The Equipment Manager is responsible for the issuance and maintenance of all athletic equipment and apparel for student-athletes and athletic department staff. This position is responsible for ensuring that athletes and coaches have the needed equipment and apparel and that it is in good condition for operation of their individual programs. This position works under general supervision.

Essential Functions:
  • Primary person for purchasing equipment to ensure that the teams and coaches will have the needed proper equipment, and works closely with the Assistant AD for Business and the Business Assistant to ensure proper purchasing procedures are followed. These procedures must be followed in accordance with University and auditing rules and regulations. Responsible for placing apparel orders with contracted vendors and distributors, ensuring timely delivery and accordance with department trademark and licensing policies.

  • Oversees the preparation and cleaning of equipment for team practice, games and upcoming seasons to ensure that the teams and coaches will have the needed equipment and that it will be in good repair. Maintain all laundry equipment and daily supplies needed to ensure equipment is in proper working condition.

  • Oversees the issuance and reserve equipment for student‑athletes and department staff to ensure that equipment will be available for use for athletics, recreation and the Jacobs Fitness Center. Maintain all equipment operations facility needs and areas of use to ensure effective operation and functions of the department and the equipment. Ensure that equipment is properly stored and inventoried.

  • Hire, train, and manage a staff of up to 25 student workers in an effort to effectively operate the Athletic Equipment functions, including laundry and storage.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

  • 35 hours per week.

  • Some evening and weekend hours are necessary based on team schedules.

Required Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent.

  • 2 - 4 years of relevant experience.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of NCAA rules and University policies and procedures are helpful.

  • Must be able to handle many tasks simultaneously.
