Job description

We’re seeking an Equipment Manager to support our Jacksonville, FL operation and ensure our tractors and trailers are safe, reliable, and ready to haul freight.

This role is ideal for someone who is organized, resourceful, and comfortable working independently in a fast-paced environment. You’ll work closely with drivers, Operations, maintenance vendors, and our corporate team to keep equipment moving and resolve issues quickly.

As an Equipment Manager, You Will:

  • Schedule and coordinate preventative maintenance for tractors and trailers.
  • Work directly with maintenance vendors to ensure repairs are completed safely, timely, and cost-effectively.
  • Coordinate emergency breakdowns with drivers, vendors, and Operations to minimize downtime.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with local maintenance vendors.
  • Partner with Operations daily to identify equipment concerns and determine the best course of action.
  • Communicate directly with drivers regarding equipment issues and provide timely support.
  • Monitor equipment condition and availability to ensure trucks and trailers are ready to haul freight.
  • Review repair invoices for accuracy, identify discrepancies, and work with vendors to resolve issues.
  • Maintain accurate records of equipment repairs, maintenance activity, and related costs.
  • Coordinate the installation and upgrades of in-cab communication devices.
  • Coordinate the disposal of equipment at the end of its useful life.
  • Communicate equipment updates, concerns, and trends with the corporate office.
  • Respond to changing priorities and critical situations while balancing safety, service, cost, and operational needs.

What We’re Looking For:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Two or more years of experience in transportation, equipment/fleet management, maintenance, purchasing, or a related field preferred.
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize, multitask, and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Comfortable working independently while collaborating with drivers, vendors, and internal teams.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Outlook.
  • Ability to work in an active environment, including frequent movement between the office and yard and occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds.
