Job summary

Amgen in the United States is seeking an Associate Tech Engineering I to provide technical engineering support for system optimization, maintenance, and regulatory compliance in the Inspection and Packaging area.

The role requires coordinating maintenance activities, assisting during FDA inspections, and working non-standard shifts including nights. A bachelor's degree or equivalent experience is required, with preferred background in mechanical engineering and packaging equipment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent required.
• Associates degree with 4+ years of Technical Engineering experience.
• High school diploma / GED with 6+ years of Technical Engineering experience.
• Educational background in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related technical degree.
• Experience repairing mechanical equipment in a manufacturing environment (packaging equipment preferred).
• Strong mechanical proficiency and troubleshooting skills.
• Understanding of PLC, Cognex Vision System, Systech Serialization, and related tooling.
• Ability to read electrical schematics and use a digital multimeter.
• Excellent organizational, project management, problem solving and technical writing capability.
• Strong communication: verbal/written, collaboration and facilitation.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate tech support across engineering, regulatory, compliance, quality, microbial/environmental, technical cleaning, validation, and electrical/mechanical/process automation.
• Assist during regulatory agency inspections and provide technical support to the FDA and other agencies.
• Complete maintenance activities or operate and monitor plant support equipment per CFRs, cGMPs, SOPs, and Amgen policies.
• Investigate issues through mentorship of experienced staff.
• Maintain an up-to-date spare parts inventory for equipment/systems.
• Evaluate maintenance procedures and help optimize the maintenance program; troubleshoot equipment failures.
• Interpret and review utility, process system/equipment, plumbing, ductwork plans, architectural, and P&IDs.
• Support Operations in non-standard shifts including weekends/holidays; night shift eligibility.
• Ability to work night shift.
