Qualifications

  • Knowledge of electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical systems and diagnostics.
  • Ability to read schematics/blueprints and use a multimeter.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and adjust highly automated equipment.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and repairs.
  • Maintain documentation and support GMP compliance.

Equipment Maintenance Technician

Location: Hunt Valley, MD

Pay Rate: $30.60-$31.05/hour

Schedule: 1st Shift and 2nd Shift openings; Safety: Safety shoes required

Position Overview

The Equipment Maintenance Technician will report to the Production Supervisor and be responsible for both machine operation and maintenance of AutoPak equipment. This position performs equipment setup, operation, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, adjustments, and inspections on highly automated manufacturing equipment. The technician will work with mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems while supporting production, quality, downtime, and waste objectives. The position requires strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, the ability to work independently and as part of a team, and the flexibility to support multiple production areas.

Schedule & Training Requirements

1st Shift: Monday–Friday, 6:00 AM–2:30 PM

2nd Shift: Monday–Friday, 2:00 PM–10:30 PM

Pay Rate: $31.05/hour, including shift differential for 2nd shift

Candidates must be available to work 1st shift hours, Monday–Friday, 6:00 AM–2:30 PM for approximately 3 months during the training period.

Onboarding: 1 week, Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM

Overtime may be required based on business needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Set up, operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and adjust highly complex automated manufacturing equipment.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and routine and major repairs.
  • Perform mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical maintenance, inspections, adjustments, and repairs.
  • Control and adjust machine settings for AutoPak equipment.
  • Independently operate multiple production lines and manage equipment changeovers.
  • Support automated filling, packing, assembly, labeling, and inspection processes.
  • Provide operator support throughout the assigned business operation and assist wherever needed.
  • Perform cleanup functions in sterilized areas as required.
  • Evaluate charts and follow diagrams, testing, and inspection procedures.
  • Conduct root-cause analysis for process or product exceptions.
  • Monitor quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures.
  • Maintain accurate quality, safety, maintenance, and production documentation.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve complex issues related to machine performance and product quality.
  • Work with external contractors and vendors as needed.
  • Follow established procedures according to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
  • Follow all housekeeping and safety policies and procedures.
  • Work overtime as required to meet business needs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

  • Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude.
  • Ability to use a multimeter.
  • Knowledge of sensor technology.
  • Basic plumbing knowledge involving fluid and pneumatic systems.
  • Knowledge of power transmission systems, including gearboxes, motors, belt drives, and chain drives.
  • Basic machining knowledge.
  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical circuits from low-level signals through 480 VAC.
  • Understanding of trades mathematics, calibration techniques, and precision measuring instruments.
  • Strong attention to accuracy and tolerances.
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
  • Strong time-management, interpersonal, communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
  • Flexible and adaptable when working with different equipment, processes, projects, and assignments.
Preferred Experience
  • Troubleshooting industrial control systems, including instrumentation, ladder logic, relay logic, VFDs, and servo systems.
  • Knowledge and proficiency with PLC operations, robotics, and vision systems.
  • Mechanical design experience using AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar software.
  • Experience with SAP maintenance modules or equivalent computerized maintenance systems.
  • Basic experience using mills, lathes, welding equipment, and bearing presses.
