Equipment & Machine Operator
Location: Southington, CT
Duration: 9 month contract to hire!
Pay Rate & Hours: 2:45pm to 11:15pm - $23.00/hour
Qualifications:
- Sound judgment for use in machine troubleshooting and product disposition.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- High School Diploma, or GED with 1 to 3 years of manufacturing experience preferred; or Technical Certificate with associated relevant experience.
Work Environment:
- Work involves use of manufacturing equipment or close proximity to equipment. May be exposed to biohazards and/or chemicals.
- Work environment can range from clean room and proper gowning requirements to a production area that is open, potentially noisy, and with moving equipment.
- Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs. and push/pull up to 80 lbs.
- Recurring physical demands include standing, walking, stooping, crouching, climbing, bilateral motion involving hands, wrists, and upper body.
- Concentrated visual attention to perform checks on products and components.
- Typically requires travel less than 5% of the time.
Position Summary:
The Equipment Operator II is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of assigned equipment, ensuring continued operation through interpretation of and response to machine faults, and line clearance needs.
- Perform start-up operation from power off/cold state; complete equipment and product paperwork, such as traceability and start-up checklist.
- Conduct Level I required preventive maintenance tasks.
- Participate in changeovers to include line clearance, system transactions, and associated documentation.
- Perform work order set ups in electronic batch record, data acquisition and inventory management systems.
- Pull test samples for QC in process inspection, remove completed production from machine and place in finished goods totes.
- Fill component Hoppers/Bowls as required to maintain production.
- Perform minor troubleshooting to diagnose machine performance issues; escalate to assigned Technician when required to ensure resolution. Perform line clearance activities and return equipment to proper operation.
- Update hourly production boards with production and efficiency numbers; note issues that prevented goal attainment (downtime, waste, quality, etc.).
- Submit machine repair tags to identify issues requiring support services.
- Ensure that product not meeting quality specifications is processed under non-conformance procedures/requirements.
- Maintain 5S standards in assigned work areas.
- Model company values and support strategic initiatives.
- Perform other related duties as assigned or required.
