Job summary

BKON is seeking a motivated Equipment & Facilities Maintenance Technician to keep production equipment, utilities, and the building running safely and reliably. You will work across production, packaging, and facility systems in a hands-on role at our Moorestown, New Jersey location.

The ideal candidate has several years of practical maintenance experience, strong mechanical aptitude, and the ability to know when in-house work suffices versus when to engage outside specialists.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years hands-on industrial, manufacturing-equipment, or equipment-maintenance experience.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with pumps, motors, valves, conveyors, grinders, or production machinery.

Responsibilities

Job description

We’re looking for a motivated, hands‑on Equipment & Facilities Maintenance Technician to help keep our production equipment, utilities, and building running safely and reliably. This is a broad maintenance role in a small beverage‑manufacturing company: on any given day, you might troubleshoot a pump, complete preventive maintenance on a grinder, coordinate chiller service, repair a door, organize critical spare parts, or support an equipment installation.

We’re not looking for an entry‑level candidate, but we also don’t expect you to arrive as a senior industrial mechanic, engineer, or facilities manager. We’re looking for someone with several years of practical maintenance experience, sound judgment, dependable follow‑through, and the ability to know what can be handled in‑house and when a qualified outside specialist is needed.

What You’ll Do

Equipment Maintenance

• Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair production and brewing equipment such as pumps, valves, motors, conveyors, grinders, brewing vessels, filtration equipment, centrifuge systems, and packaging equipment.
• Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, lubrication, adjustments, and routine component replacement.
• Respond to breakdowns, determine likely causes, complete repairs within your training and experience, and coordinate outside expertise when needed.
• Support equipment installations, upgrades, trials, shutdown work, and practical reliability improvements.
• Perform basic electrical and controls troubleshooting, such as identifying failed sensors, switches, connections, motors, or related components, within your training and experience.
• Work with Production, Quality, R&D, equipment manufacturers, and outside specialists to investigate equipment or process problems and implement approved corrective actions.

Facilities Maintenance

• Inspect, maintain, and coordinate service for facility systems, including glycol/chiller systems, compressed air, water and hot‑water systems, HVAC, plumbing and drains, lighting, doors and hardware, alarms and security, fire‑protection systems, and other assigned building systems.
• Complete general building upkeep and minor non‑specialized repairs such as patching, painting, lighting replacement, and hardware repairs.
• Coordinate scheduled service, inspections, emergency calls, and follow‑up with maintenance contractors, equipment manufacturers, and the landlord.
• Coordinate service for forklifts, pallet jacks, scissor lifts, refrigerated vehicles, and other assigned equipment.
• Perform other related duties as requested, directed or assigned.

Maintenance Organization and Safety

• Maintain preventive‑maintenance schedules, work records, equipment histories, service documents, open‑work lists, and required SQF records.
• Monitor inventory levels for spare parts, critical components, maintenance supplies, and consumables, and communicate purchasing needs to management.
• Maintain organized maintenance and tooling areas, including the proper identification, labeling, storage, care, and return of parts, tools, service manuals, and supplies.
• Follow lockout/tagout, electrical‑safety, food‑safety, quality, sanitation, and environmental requirements.
• Protect product‑contact areas during maintenance and return repaired equipment and affected work areas to a safe, sanitary condition before returning them to service.

What We’re Looking For

Required Qualifications

• At least 1-2 years of hands‑on industrial, manufacturing‑equipment, commercial‑facility, or equipment‑service maintenance experience. Relevant technical education or apprenticeship experience may substitute for some work experience.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and experience with some combination of pumps, motors, valves, conveyors, pneumatics, piping, grinders, or production machinery.
• Ability to handle general facility repairs and recognize when licensed or specialized contractors are required.
• Ability to use hand tools, power tools, meters, and basic diagnostic equipment safely and effectively.
• A practical, methodical approach to troubleshooting; strong organization; accurate recordkeeping; and clear communication.
• Ability to work independently while coordinating priorities with Production, Quality, management, and outside vendors.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in beverage, brewery, food, pharmaceutical, or other regulated manufacturing.
• Exposure to sanitary pumps and valves, CIP systems, filtration, centrifuges, glycol/chillers, compressed air, water systems, sensors, VFDs, HMIs, or PLC‑controlled equipment.
• Basic electrical troubleshooting experience.
• Experience with contractor coordination, equipment installations, maintenance records, or spare‑parts inventories.
• Forklift or material‑handling experience.

Physical Requirements

• This is a full‑time, on‑site position in Moorestown, New Jersey.
• Occasional adjusted hours or overtime may be needed for planned maintenance, equipment breakdowns, or urgent facility needs.
• Ability to lift and carry tools, parts, and materials weighing up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, climb, kneel, and work around production, warehouse, and facility equipment for extended periods.
• Comfort working around cleaning chemicals, hot water, moving equipment, noise, and periodically wet, hot, or humid conditions while using required PPE.

Compensation and Benefits

$31.00–$36.00 per hour, depending on directly relevant maintenance, equipment, and beverage‑manufacturing experience. This is a full‑time, overtime‑eligible position. Benefits include health/dental/vision insurance, PTO, and paid holidays.
