Job summary

The Department of the Air Force Headquarters seeks a Facilities Services Assistant to support modification, operations, maintenance and repair of Air Force Real Property for NASIC occupied buildings.

Job description

The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a Facilities Services Assistant in support of the modification, operations support, maintenance, and repair of Air Force Real Property and capital support equipment for NASIC occupied buildings.

This is a GG-07 position in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). The GG-07 duties for the "Technician/Administrative Support" work category are at the "Full Performance" work level and are equivalent to those at the GS-07 level. The selectee's salary will be set within the grade equivalent to a GS/GG grade based on the selectee's qualifications in relation to the job. In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Clerical and Administrative Support Positions.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:

Your resume must reflect the quality level of experience which demonstrates the possession of the knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for successful job performance required for this position.

Examples of creditable experience include knowledge of established building operations and maintenance procedures, and customer service protocols, requiring considerable training and experience in standardized rules and operational guidelines.. Must possess exceptional communication and customer service skills to proactively communicate maintenance updates and potential disruptions to supervisors, building occupants, and other stakeholders using clear and courteous language.

Note: Creditable experience may include previous military experience, experience gained in the private sector, or experience gained in another government agency.

OR Education:

One full year of graduate level education in a field directly related which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts.

OR Combination of Education and Experience:

A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs):

Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:

  1. Knowledge of a wide range of Civil Engineering disciplines, shop functions, capabilities, and workflow processes, as well as established operating instructions, directives, and policies related to the processing of work requests for facility maintenance.
  2. Knowledge of electrical, plumbing, heating, and air conditioning systems within a facility. Ability to identify common issues and report them to the appropriate personnel.
  3. Knowledge of established facility maintenance scheduling, prioritization, and tracking systems.
  4. Knowledge of common security systems used to protect facilities, including awareness of access control procedures.
  5. Knowledge of established procedures for government purchase card use, as outlined in guidelines provided.
  6. Ability to assist in identifying deficiencies and preparing basic documentation for repair and alteration projects. Skill in observing work progress and reporting potential delays to supervisors.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE:

Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE:

Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
