Job summary

Illumina is seeking an Equipment Engineer I to support the reliability and continuous improvement of manufacturing equipment on the Flow Cell Manufacturing floor. You will troubleshoot, perform preventive maintenance, and implement improvements in collaboration with cross-functional teams.

The role emphasizes hands-on work on the production floor, documenting procedures, and contributing to equipment performance analyses while growing technical expertise with guidance from senior engineers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronics engineering; 0-2 years of experience.
• Basic knowledge of automated manufacturing systems and robotics.
• Ability to read electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
• Familiarity with safety and documentation practices.

Responsibilities

• Support manufacturing operations through equipment troubleshooting and sustainment.
• Assist with preventive maintenance optimization and equipment upgrades.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and automation issues; escalate when needed.
• Support automated systems including robotics, machine vision, and PLCs.
• Use diagnostic tools to troubleshoot panels, wiring, and instrumentation.
• Develop and maintain SOPs, work instructions, and training materials.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on investigations and improvements.
• Learn and apply engineering standards under guidance from senior engineers.
