Job summary

Illumina is seeking a Manufacturing Equipment Engineer 1 in San Diego to support manufacturing equipment, instrumentation, and production operations. You’ll help with preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, calibration, and continuous improvement in a GMP‑regulated setting while collaborating with engineers, operations, and vendors.

Ideal candidates have up to 2 years of experience, solid problem-solving skills, and proficiency in MS Office.

Qualifications

• 0–2 years of professional experience
• Proficient in MS Office and data collection
• Familiar with GMP and GDP practices
• Able to interpret electrical/mechanical schematics
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
• Good written and verbal English communication

Responsibilities

• Complete tasks independently with minimal supervision
• Escalate issues and troubleshoot under guidance
• Plan, coordinate, and execute calibrations, maintenance, repairs, and projects
• Develop and improve preventive maintenance procedures
• Assist in troubleshooting to reduce recurring equipment failures
• Support installation, qualification, startup, and modification activities
• Collaborate with vendors, engineers and cross-functional teams
• Monitor equipment performance and manage spares inventory
• Provide hardware/software support and troubleshooting
• Contribute to safety, compliance and continuous improvement
• Manual handling and travel as required (up to 10%)
