Job summary

X-FAB in Lubbock, TX, is seeking an experienced Equipment Engineer to support and improve equipment availability, scrap reduction, and total cost of ownership. You will interface with manufacturing, process engineering, and vendors to resolve complex equipment and production problems.

Responsibilities include maintaining PLC programs, repairing process equipment, identifying root causes of downtime, training technicians, and establishing PM schedules with spare part stock levels.

Qualifications

• B.S. degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology or equivalent experience in a technical field.
• Experience with PLC programming and equipment troubleshooting is expected.
• Knowledge of high voltage and high vacuum systems is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist in maintaining the Equipment Engineering group's PLC programs.
• Repair and maintain process equipment.

• Train new employees and assist technicians as needed.

Provide equipment engineering support. Work to improve equipment availability, scrap, and cost of ownership. Interface with manufacturing, process engineering, vendors, and others in the equipment engineering group to resolve equipment and production problems.

Current Skills/Competencies

• Proficiency in PLC programming and their implementation, prefer GE software and Keyence Ladder Builder
• Proficiency with HMI Display programming and implementation, i.e. Red Lion, Maple Systems
• Ability to program in any variation of "C coding", i.e. C, C+, C++
• Knowledge of high voltage systems and troubleshooting
• Knowledge of high vacuum systems and troubleshooting a plus
• Ability to safely handle process chemicals
• Good verbal and written communication skills; good problem solving and decision making skills
• Must be a proven team player and self-starter

Qualifications

Education/Skills Background: B.S. degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology or equivalent experience in a technical field.
