Job Purpose

The role is for an entry-level mechanical designer supporting a team dedicated to developing and integrating equipment into Honda facilities. The associate will be responsible for equipment development for both business plans and new model projects, from concept to finalized design, ensuring the design meets target criteria and is optimized as a solution.

Key Accountabilities

1. Provide mechanical design solutions for automated production equipment to assemble, build, install, and mature in our facilities.
2. Collaborate within an engineering team to understand design requirements and create or modify equipment accordingly.
3. Support on-site installation, system startup, and control system maturation for production equipment.
4. Create and maintain schedules for work assignments to meet project milestones for small to medium projects.
5. Participate in design reviews to ensure standards and specifications are met.
6. Continuously learn new skills, processes, and technologies to expand relevant manufacturing knowledge.

Qualifications, Experience, and Skills

1. Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
2. 2 terms of Co-Op or internship, or 2 years of designing automated equipment.
3. Knowledge of 3D CAE systems and software.
4. Background in automated equipment development.
5. Strong technical communication skills, both written and oral.

Decisions Expected

1. Create machine concepts that meet QCDSM criteria using core engineering practices.
2. Conduct process studies and tooling design.
3. Review and support equipment prior to installation to ensure design criteria are met.

Working Conditions

1. 90% Office work — specification documentation.
2. 10% Manufacturing floor — investigation, system support, verification.
3. Willingness to travel locally, regionally, and internationally as needed.
