Job summary

The position sits in the Digital Technology office, reporting to the Assistant Dean for Communications and Digital Media, with on‑site work in New Haven.

Qualifications

  • Six years of related work experience, four in the same job family at the next lower level and a high school education.
  • Or four years of related work experience and an Associate degree.
  • Or little or no work experience and a Bachelor degree in a related field.
  • Equivalent combination of experience and education.

Responsibilities

  • Provide basic instruction and assistance for faculty, students and professional staff in the use of audio‑visual equipment.
  • Execute audio‑visual service requests for classroom and event support.
  • Provide frontline technical support services, including the set‑up, operation and troubleshooting of audio‑visual equipment.
  • Provide operational support and maintenance of audio‑visual equipment, including but not limited to projectors, plasma screens, computers, PA systems, audio recorders, mixers, amplifiers, and projection equipment.
  • Provide daily support for approximately 35 classrooms and serve as the initial point of contact for reporting and resolving problems in these classrooms.
  • Escalate support issues within Media Services to ensure timely solutions.
  • Document service requests and problem reports for departmental databases.
  • Maintain equipment inventory for assigned classroom zones including maintenance/repair records.
  • Test and maintain audio‑visual rental equipment.
  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance, cleaning and repair of audio‑visual equipment; replace components as needed.
  • Maintain appropriate inventory of supplies and equipment in distributed storage facilities.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.
  • Attend all‑school shop and lab managers meetings.
