Job summary

PetVet Care Centers’ Bluegrass Equine Surgery is seeking an Equine Surgeon's Assistant to provide comprehensive support to the surgeon and the team. The role involves assisting during surgeries, prep work, and coordinating schedules in a busy equine practice in Versailles, KY. Hours are 40 per week, with potential for flexible days.

Compensation is hourly based on experience, with benefits included. You will work closely with the surgeon and Surgery Operations Manager in a collaborative hospital

Qualifications

• Experience with equine handling and reading horse body language.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Willingness to work uncommon hours and be recalled in emergencies.
• Self-motivated lifelong learner.

Responsibilities

• Provide calendar management for the Surgeon.
• Assist during surgery and prepare surgical sites.
• Maintain sterile prep of surgery sites and assist with instruments.
• Ambulatory support: drive and maintain the Surgeon’s vehicle, gather billing information.
• Promote teamwork and professional conduct across the team.
