University of Minnesota invites applications for a contract (non-tenure) full-time faculty position in Large Animal Surgery (LAS) within the Department of Veterinary Population Medicine (VPM) at the College of Veterinary Medicine in St. Paul.

The appointment will be at Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor, depending on qualifications and experience. The role emphasizes clinical service in LAS, teaching and mentoring of students and residents, and participation in scholarly

Qualifications

• DVM/VMD or equivalent veterinary degree required.
• Board-certified in large animal surgery by ACVS, or board-eligible for the ACVS phase II exam by start date.
• Eligible for Minnesota state veterinary faculty licensure.
• Outstanding clinical, interpersonal and teaching skills.
• Experience working with culturally distinct groups and excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide exceptional clinical service in Large Animal Surgery at the Veterinary Medical Center (Piper Equine Hospital and Large Animal Hospital).
• Provide elective daytime services for large animal surgical and equine sports medicine/lameness cases, and emergent services.
• Participate in evening/weekend/holiday on-call coverage shared among 4 faculty.
• Provide clinical teaching and mentoring of veterinary students, interns and residents; participate in resident training activities.
