Job summary

Auburn University's College of Veterinary Medicine is seeking an Internal Medicine Equine Technician to assist in diagnosing and treating complex medical conditions in horses. You will work closely with board-certified specialists and veterinary students to deliver high-quality care in a state-of-the-art facility.

This full-time role runs Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with possible extended hours on weekends or holidays.

Qualifications

Associate's degree in Veterinary Technology or a related field required.
2 years of experience in Veterinary Technology or care of animals.
Active license with Alabama State Board of Veterinary Medicine or eligibility to licensure within 6 months.
Prior equine experience is desired.

Responsibilities

Assist with examination, treatment, and monitoring of equine patients.
Perform and assist with diagnostic procedures such as sample collection, ultrasound, endoscopy, and radiography.
Administer medications, IV fluids, vaccinations, and other treatments as prescribed by veterinarians.
Monitor patients’ vital signs, responses to treatment, and overall progress.
Communicate with horse owners regarding conditions, plans, and care instructions.
Maintain accurate medical records, histories, and billing charges.
Collaborate with veterinary students, interns, and staff to support educational activities.
Ensure cleanliness and proper maintenance of equipment and facilities.
