University of Missouri-Columbia is seeking an Equine Animal Care Worker in the College of Veterinary Medicine at MU. The role supports the Equine Hospital with basic husbandry for equine patients, feeding, cleaning pens, and maintaining biosecurity.

The position is a full-time 40-hour-per-week role with early morning shifts. Qualifications include reading/writing ability, 1–2 years of experience with horses or livestock, ability to lift up to 70 lbs, and ability to work around dust and

Qualifications

• Ability to read and write.
• 1–2 years of experience with caring for horses and/or livestock.
• Lift items weighing up to 70 lbs daily.
• Grasp handles of shovels, brooms and mops for cleaning.
• Climb on railings; observe animal behavior.
• Work around dust, chemicals, animal waste and water.

Responsibilities

• Provide basic husbandry for equine patients (feeding, watering, cleaning pens).
• Ensure pens, stalls, treatment areas cleaned and biosecurity maintained.
• Maintain rail work, catches and hinges on pens, stalls and treatment areas.
• Duties in the food animal clinic caring for cattle, pigs, sheep, etc.
• Other duties as assigned.
