Job summary

University of Missouri is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to join the Equine service at the Veterinary Health Center in Columbia, MO. The role supports outpatient and in-patient care, including lameness exams, intra-operative tasks, and routine preventive care, with emphasis on safety and animal welfare.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired.
• Previous experience with horses or in an equestrian setting.

Responsibilities

• Assist with outpatient exams
• Assist with lameness exams
• Provide intra-operative surgical technical support
• Assist with in-patient procedures
• Assist with biosecurity protocols
• Clean and maintain equipment and exam rooms
• Maintain and stock supplies
• Enter charges
• Assist other technicians as needed
