Job summary

Fairfield Equine Associates is seeking a dependable Equine Hospital Stable Hand to maintain a clean, safe hospital environment and provide daily care for our equine patients. The role supports the veterinary team and hospital protocols to ensure optimal patient comfort and cleanliness.

The position requires experience with horses, reliability, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team. It entails early mornings and evening shifts, plus physical tasks such as lifting and stall

Qualifications

• Previous horse-handling and equine experience required.
• Comfortable handling horses of varying temperaments and sizes.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
• Dependable, punctual, and able to work as part of a team.
• Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks.
• Must be comfortable with physically demanding work, including lifting at least 50 lbs.
• Experience in a veterinary or hospital setting is a plus, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Hand-walk hospitalized horses as directed by the veterinary team
• Feed and water horses according to individual patient instructions
• Clean and maintain stalls, aisles and treatment areas
• Restock hay, grain, bedding/shavings, and other hospital supplies
• Drag and maintain the arena
• Maintain an organized and safe work environment
• Follow all hospital safety procedures and patient-care protocols
• Perform other stable and hospital duties as needed
