Job summary

The University of Missouri - Columbia is seeking an Equine Animal Care Worker for the College of Veterinary Medicine. You will support the Veterinary Health Center's equine hospital with basic husbandry, cleaning, and safety duties across pens, stalls, and treatment areas.

You will work a full-time, 40-hour week, with shifts starting around 7:00 AM. Prior care of horses or livestock is preferred, and the role emphasizes biosecurity and teamwork within the Department of Veterinary Medicine &

Qualifications

• Ability to read and write.
• One to two years of experience with caring for horses and/or livestock.
• Lift items weighing up to 70 lbs on a daily basis.
• Grasp handles of shovels and brooms for cleaning; climb railings.
• Observe animal behavior; work around dust, chemicals, animal waste and water.

Responsibilities

• Provide basic husbandry for equine patients and other large animals.
• Keep pens, stalls, treatment areas, and corridors clean to maintain biosecurity.
• Clean and maintain railings, pens, stalls and treatment areas.
• Assist in food animal care as needed in the hospital setting.
• Other duties as assigned by the department.
