Job summary

Verland in Sewickley, PA is hiring an Equestrian Therapy Aide for the Main Campus. The role supports the Equestrian Therapy Supervisor in planning and conducting therapy activities, including equine awareness and therapeutic riding, coordinating with OT and PT, and assisting with stable duties.

The position is hourly and non-exempt, with a 1st shift schedule: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and every other weekend. AHS requirements and a strong understanding of horses are essential.

Qualifications

• Must have an understanding and knowledge of horses, basic stable management, and an understanding of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
• On-the-job training provided by the Equestrian Therapy Supervisor on techniques and procedures.
• Must have all required clearances and a valid Driver's License.
• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent required.

Responsibilities

• Assists with therapy treatment for individuals receiving services.
• Assists in the selection of Equestrian Therapy activities and methods.
• Participates in the Interdisciplinary Team process as needed.
• Assists with maintaining the horses and upkeep of the stable, feeding and grooming the animals, cleaning stalls, etc.
• Serves as a leader or side walker during mounted therapy sessions.
• Works one-on-one with individuals during stable management activities.
• Assists with mealtimes in the Adult Training Facility (ATF), including feeding individuals.
• Assists/participates in direct support to individuals at the ATF as assigned by the ATF Manager.
• Completes other duties as assigned by the supervisor or ATF Manager.
• In case of staff shortages, may be required to complete DSP duties as assigned by supervisor.
