Job summary

Rite of Passage Team is hiring an Equine Assistant at Childhelp, Alice C. Tyler Village in Lignum, VA. Join a mission-driven team caring for horses and supporting residents in an equine-assisted mental health program for children aged 5–14.

The role involves ranch duties, feeding, grooming, and basic first-aid tasks, with a focus on safety and compassionate care. Part-time schedule with weekend shifts and opportunity for growth in a therapeutic setting.

Qualifications

• At least 19 years old.
• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Experience with horses and equine care.
• Ability to pass background checks and TB test.

Responsibilities

• Care for horses, including feeding, grooming, and basic medical tasks.
• Assist with equine activities for residents in a therapeutic program.
• Support ranch operations, stall and pasture maintenance.
• Assist in safety and supervision during activities with traumatized youth.

Skills
