American Skilled Trades Academy seeks a Technical Trainer to deliver comprehensive technical training for technicians across skill levels. You will lead instructor-led sessions, virtual and field-based programs, and hands-on exercises to build job-ready competencies.
Responsibilities include administering skills assessments, coaching, and maintaining training records, while partnering with Operations leaders to identify training needs and trends. Travel is required about 35% of the time.
The Technical Trainer is responsible for delivering technical training programs that support technician readiness, skill development, and operational excellence. This role facilitates training, evaluates technician competencies, supports employee development plans, and partners with Operations leaders to ensure technicians possess the knowledge and skills necessary to perform safely and effectively.
Deliver instructor-led, virtual, field-based, and hands-on technical training programs for technicians at various skill levels.
Facilitate demonstrations, practical exercises, and skills-based learning experiences.
Administer technical skills assessments and provide coaching and developmental feedback.
Identify knowledge and skill gaps and recommend development opportunities.
Maintain accurate training records, certifications, assessment results, and attendance documentation.
Monitor technician progress against development plans and training requirements.
Partner with Operations leadership and field personnel to identify training needs and performance trends.
Support implementation of new training initiatives, programs, and learning resources.
Provide recommendations to improve training materials, assessments, and delivery methods.
Stay current on industry technologies, equipment, safety requirements, and instructional best practices.
Travel is required (about 35% of your time will be travel – travel details can be discussed) for training evolutions with ASTA partners.
Minimum two (2) years of experience in technical training, field service, maintenance, skilled trades, or operations.
Strong presentation, facilitation, and communication skills.
Ability to effectively train and coach adult learners.
Experience conducting skills assessments and providing performance feedback.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and operational leaders.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and learning-related technology platforms.
Experience working in an operation-driven environment such as PowerChampions.
Experience delivering technical or skilled-trades training programs.
Experience developing training materials, learning activities, and technical documentation.
Familiarity with EPSS technician career pathing, certification programs, and workforce development initiatives.
