Job summary

AECOM is seeking a full-time Department Manager for the New York/New Jersey Area Environmental Planning and Permitting (EPP) Department. The role includes leading a regional team and overseeing ~60 professionals, with a focus on revenue growth, staff utilization, and client engagement.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in environmental permitting, NEPA/EIS development, and multi-million-dollar contracts, plus leadership and business development skills within the NY/NJ metro area.

Qualifications

• BA/BS in Environmental Sciences field of study +10 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency.
• Valid Driver’s License and ability to pass AECOM’s Motor Vehicle Records review.
• Business development and client relationship building experience.
• Permitting experience.
• US citizenship is required.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and direction through managers and professional staff; lead efforts to grow company technical expertise.
• Responsible for the financial performance of the department.
• Review proposals for technical and financial content.
• Develop business plans and manage financial tracking.
• Advise regional business managers on growth, staff recruitment and retention, and technical excellence strategies.
• Recruit and help retain staff at all levels.
• Maintain a technical role as project manager, lead verifier, or technical lead as appropriate.
