Job summary

Thorlabs is hiring an Epitaxy Engineer I to operate MOCVD or MBE systems and conduct epitaxial growth of semiconductor materials. The role requires a Bachelor's degree in relevant fields and at least 1 year of experience in wafer growth, with proficiency in semiconductor physics and effective communication skills.

The position offers an annual salary range of $85,000 - $90,000 and comes with a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision insurance, and a 401(k) plan.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year experience in epitaxial wafer growth or related areas.
• Experience with clean room operations.
• Ability to work on ITAR related products.

Responsibilities

• Perform epitaxial growth of III-V compound materials by MOCVD or MBE.
• Maintain and repair growth reactor and support equipment.
• Document procedures for material growth and equipment maintenance.
• Characterize epitaxial material using various measurement techniques.
• Communicate system status to management and production personnel.

Skills

Basic understanding of semiconductor physics

Proficient in BS-level mathematics

Effective oral and written communication skills

Ability to work independently and in a team

Strong organizational and planning skills

Education

Bachelor's degree in Material Science, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or Chemistry
