Job summary

LSU New Orleans is seeking a data-driven epidemiology support professional to assist with infectious disease surveillance and reporting. Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience required.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and time-management skills.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).

Responsibilities

• Assist with surveillance activities to detect cases and identify trends for the Bureau of Infectious Disease.
• Support Regional Epidemiologist on all epidemiologic activities in the assigned region.
• Complete disease case reports in assigned regions.
• Monitor parish health units and hospitals via electronic reporting within assigned regions.
• Analyze and interpret infectious disease surveillance data for trends and clusters.
• Conduct data entry in REDCap, IDRIS, and other databases used.
• Coordinate with physicians and health care providers to enhance disease surveillance.
• Prepare and maintain confidential case records with pertinent medical data.
• Participate in infectious disease outbreak investigations.
• Conduct interviews of persons diagnosed or suspected of having reportable infectious disease.
• Serve as a resource for the public and health care community by responding to requests for information and statistics.
• Provide and disseminate health education to at-risk communities.
• Perform other tasks as assigned.
